Unsanitary Hotel Conditions
When dream vacations turn into travel nightmares, where can you turn to?
When facing problems with a hotel, rental agency, or airline, people often feel confused and are stressed and tired from traveling.
Due to exhaustion, you may just take whatever the hotel offers you, rather than thinking about your rights.
Just because they’re a big corporation doesn’t mean that they can subject you to unsanitary or unsafe conditions.
You should consider asking for legal advice from an attorney.
Taylor’s Horrible Hotel Experience
During my less than 24hr stay at this hotel my wife, 10 month old son, and I stayed overnight due to the poor weather conditions. We were woken very early in the morning to feeling itchy, we then realized that there were ants crawling all over us. We looked at our son who had ants on his face, also a bite mark, the ants were in ALL and I must stress ALL of our belongings, in our bed, and on almost every piece of furniture in the room.
The hotel immediately gave us another room to setup in. I then relocated my family but had to stay behind in order to clean every single item in our bags, and the bags themselves by systematically picking the ants off one by one as I hunched over the running bathtub, then I would deliver the items to the new room. The only room available was a smoking room which was concerning due to my son being so young and having to inhale those fumes that never leave the room, which could be harmful.
I had to wash our all of our clothes, and as we washed our clothes we realized that the new room also had ants in it. I then said forget it we are out of here, we packed up as much as we could and checked out.
The general manager offered us a 50% discount which I am grateful for but in retrospect, now that I have had time to breathe, I believe that we should receive a full refund if not more. I believe I still have the receipt in my possession, and if you would like pictures; we took quite a few, I can provide those materials as well. Do I have any sort of case if they do not refund me?
Your injury case presents a nightmarish scenario for the traveler. The first thing an injury lawyer needs to know in this case is where is the hotel. Different states have different laws for such matters.
The second issue is what are the damages. Have you or anyone in your family had to consult doctors or mental health providers for your injuries? It is good that you have all the paperwork as this will help your claim.
Contact an experienced injury lawyer who is licensed in the state where the hotel is located as soon as possible.
This answer pertains to individuals in the state of Virginia.
